The
Client
Great Day Improvements, a significant home improvement business ready for its next chapter
Great Day Improvements, a nearly $2B holding company consisting of 8 vertically integrated home improvement brands, engaged Cultura to recruit a President for a significant, nine-figure division within its home improvement portfolio. The business had an established presence across ~55 U.S. markets and substantial opportunity to strengthen execution, develop its people, and accelerate profitable growth.
The Challenge
Building performance and culture from the field up
The next President needed to improve sales execution, create consistency across locations, and build a stronger leadership bench. Success depended on connecting commercial performance with installation quality and local-market profitability. Great Day needed more than an executive comfortable overseeing a large P&L: the right leader would work alongside local managers, coach the fundamentals, and raise expectations while building trust and engagement.
The Solution
Looking beyond industry labels to find the right operating experience
Our search extended across direct-to-consumer home improvement, residential services, and specialty retail. The connecting thread was the operating model: in-home selling, distributed field teams, and installation delivery. Detailed reviews with Great Day’s executive team separated broad leadership credentials from evidence of practical, field-level impact. We examined how candidates improved sales conversion, protected margins, and developed local teams.
To bring the opportunity to life, we created an interactive presentation with videos and detailed business context. The eventual hire, who was not aggressively seeking a move, spent roughly 90 minutes exploring it and volunteered that he had never received such impactful recruiting materials before.
After approximately four weeks of intensive outreach to nearly 300 nationwide prospects, we presented seven carefully assessed candidates. Together with Great Day, we identified four priorities for initial interviews, evaluating financial rigor, leadership style, and readiness to build stronger teams.
The Outcome
A proven operator who connects strategy with execution.
Great Day hired an accomplished President from Anthony & Sylvan Pools, where he led an approximately $400 million business across 22 markets and roughly 450 employees. His experience combined consultative in-home sales, independent installer management, and full P&L accountability.
